Cab Heater (Resolved)

Alright some some of you might remember when I made a post back last winter to see if anyone had made different style heaters whether it would be electric or only use the heat from the engine. Well I'm glad to say I have finally after a while of thinking, came up with a great solution that not only uses the heat from the engine (actually the muffler, but also uses an inline duct fan to get the hot air into the cab. All I used was a 4 inch pipe that can be angled different ways, a 4 inch inline fan, the the piece that turns the round pipe into a square shape (the piece that's on the floor in a house), and it fits right in between the tractor and cab. Then I have a little 410 watt converter to change the 12 volt dc to 110 ac. It works really well, I just want to see if I can find a fan that pushes a little more air. pictures up soon.

The inline fans don't do very much, the 6" and 8" don't do much either, have tried them in the house many years ago before redoing the HVAC system. Get that adapted to the fan shrouds and it will run you out of there. Kohler made an adapter that went on the right side that you can tie into easily that will get you the heat from the engine and the exhaust. Here's a pic of one on one of my engines.

Cold is coming, I should get started on this project myself.

Oh I think I might have one of those from a jd. I'm happy with it. Might see if I can put in a different fan rotor for lack of a better term that I got from a microwave. Has wider blades. Might push a little more air. Does anyone have any ideas to seal some of the holes like in between the hood and the cab plus on the sides of the hood?

A few leaks in the cab are good. If you seal it up too tight then the warm air won't be able to get in.

That is unless you are gonna put a return vent in it. AJ can help with that, he is a big HVAC man.

Do you know how much cfm your current fan is moving?

Geno's right, don't seal it up to tight unless unless you plan on having a exhaust.. You would be creating quite the pressure differential.

But anyway.. Depending on your current fans cfm capacity. You might want to look into a large computer fan. They are DC :bliss

I think it said around 230. Don't quote me on it but i think that's what it is. I don't mean completely seal the cab, just cover up the holes where the cab material meets the hood (theres like a 2 inch space.)

Like one out of just any old computer? Are they pretty "powerful"
